The department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Spanish, starting in Fall 2021.
The department seeks to hire a Latin Americanist specialized in contemporary Southern Cone fiction and culture.
The department seeks an energetic candidate who possesses an interest and experience in collaborating with students to develop departmental programs, including extracurricular organizations and activities.
The selected candidate should help increase the cultural and intellectual diversity of our campus. Additionally, the candidate should actively contribute to the University's mission of advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, mentoring, and service, as well as through engagement with faculty, students, and staff.
The teaching load for this position is two courses per semester.
Candidates should have a PhD in Spanish by the beginning of the appointment and should have native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English. The appointed candidate is expected to teach Spanish language courses at all levels and thus should demonstrate excellence in college-level language teaching.
Experience teaching intermediate and advanced undergraduate language courses is desired.
