Descripción

Illinois College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Global Studies department with a specialty in Spanish and Latin American studies to begin in Fall 2025.

The primary responsibilities include teaching courses in Spanish at all levels, along with cultural or literary courses taught primarily in English within the candidate’s area of specialization.

The successful candidate will advise and mentor undergraduate students, particularly Latinx and Hispanic students, and contribute to institutional partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean. Engaging in research with students and contributing to the department’s growing research program in Latin American studies are also key components of this role. Participation in departmental, college, and community service is expected.

Requisitos

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience teaching Spanish courses for heritage speakers.

Doctorate or ABD required.

Illinois College seeks candidates who have a commitment to working closely with a wide range of students. Currently, our population is approximately one-quarter students of color and 40% first-generation college students. Eagerness and ability to work with these populations is essential. Equally important is excellence in pedagogy and an openness to student-centered teaching approaches.
